GCDC, UWEX team up for brown bag lunch series

MONROE -The Green County Development Corporation (GCDC) in partnership with the Green County UW-Extension office will offer a Brown Bag lunch series monthly from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. starting Tuesday, Oct. 21 in Yodel Hall, Government Services Building, N3150 Wisconsin 81. The Webinar will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m., followed by a short discussion on local issues and applications from 12:30 to 1 p.m.

The series will be offered on the third Tuesday each month from October until June 2009. The Webinar is free to the public; no registration is necessary. Drinks will be available during the Webinar; please bring your own lunch.

The Brown Bag lunch series features UW Extension's Building Communities Webinar Educational Series: Focus on Sustainability. The series includes energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable and comprehensive planning, sustainable business practices and strategies, green collar jobs-sustainable work in a low carbon world, local food networks, sustainability indicators and measurements and community organizing for sustainability. A schedule will be available Oct. 21 at the presentation.

The first presentation on Oct. 21, "Setting the Stage: Sustainability and Sustainable Community Development," features Kelly Hawke Baxter, Executive Director of The Natural Step Canada, on how community initiatives to address sustainability can or should relate to each other; how a community can make the most strategic use of its limited resources and where it should it start; and the appropriate roles for the private and not-for-profit sectors.
