FREEPORT - FHN Hospice is celebrating 15 years of service to the residents of northwest Illinois with an open house from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the FHN Hospice office, 773 W. Lincoln St., Suite 403, Freeport.
Organized in 1993 as Freeport Memorial Hospice, the organization provides support to patients nearing the end of life and their families. Physical care is provided to control pain, provide comfort, emotional support and spiritual support which assists the patient and family as they navigate through a difficult time. Patients also may choose to receive hospice care in a nursing home; FHN Hospice serves 11 nursing homes in the area.
Since its beginning, FHN Hospice has been there for hundreds of patients and their families, serving an average 220 patients each year.
