MONROE - Fred Beer Jr., Monroe, was among veterans who participated in the Badger Honor Flight program in May to see memorials erected to honor veterans in Washington, D.C.
The Honor Flight Network provides all amenities to veterans, including transportation, meals and lodging. Each veteran is accompanied by a volunteer guardians, who pay their own $500 trip fee.
Badger Honor Flight, established in mid-2009, flies out of the Madison hub and serves veterans in Columbia, Dane, Green, Iowa, Jefferson, Lafayette, Richland, Sauk and parts of Dodge counties.
All veterans and their chosen guardians interested in making the same trip must submit an application to Badger Honor Flight. Veterans are selected for flights on a first-come, first-served basis.
