BRODHEAD — Area families and children may attend the Día del Niño / Day of the Child Celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4 at Brodhead High School. The event is sponsored by the MultiCultural Outreach Program.
Dia del Niño translates to Day of the Child and is an internationally recognized day that celebrates all children of the world. In Latin America, the day is observed on April 30 and is observed in all of the schools, churches and communities.
The celebration in Brodhead has a Hispanic theme with activities and crafts for the children, a bouncy house, and a performance of traditional Mexican dances. Beverages will be served and families can bring dishes to share and table service.
The MultiCultural Outreach Program is a part of the Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action Program and is a coalition of volunteers who have come together to support immigrants, celebrate cultural diversity and build bridges between community members. The MultiCultural Outreach Program began in Lafayette, Iowa, Grant and Richland counties and is currently forging a partnership with Green County organizers.
