MONROE - Mike Sanders, Monroe Clinic president and CEO, toasted the crowd at the opening of the Clinic's latest art collection on March 22. The even was held in conjunction with the celebration of the hospital's first birthday.

In his remarks, Sanders noted the changes in the last year go beyond the physical beauty of the hospital, but more importantly include the process improvement and quality enhancements that are a part of the organization's daily work.

Local leaders, Monroe Clinic and Hospital Foundation supporters, artists and Monroe Clinic employees joined in the festivities.

The rotating art is a partnership between the Monroe Clinic and Hospital Foundation and the Monroe Arts Center. Current artwork, on display until mid-June, includes works from local artists Thomas Brain, Nana Schowalter and James Meldrum. The exhibit will change quarterly.

"Exposure to art is proven to promote shorter hospital stays and reduce stress - art is a significant part of the healing process," said Tracey Pederson, Monroe Clinic and Hospital Foundation executive director. "Anyone who purchases the rotating art supports both the local artists and the Foundation."
