A Christmas Carol director Dave Bristow, along with cast members and crew, assist in the installation of the 1840s London village set on the stage of the Monroe Arts Center.
MONROE - For a second consecutive season the Monroe Arts Center and the Monroe Theatre Guild have partnered to present the Charles Dickens' classic, "A Christmas Carol."

Seven performances will be presented in MAC's Gunderson Stiles Concert Hall. Evening performances take place at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5, 6, 12, and 13 and matinee performances at 2 p.m. on Dec. 7, 13 and 14. A total of forty-four individuals selected to appear in this production, range from young novices to seasoned MTG founders.

Main characters include: Ted Scheffer as Ebenezer Scrooge; Roy Berrey as Bob Crachitt; Joe Peters as Jacob Marley; Sean Jorgenson as the Ghost of Christmas Past; John Baumann as the Ghost of Christmas Present; Jim McNeill as the Ghost of Christmas Future; and Ruth Joy Tuttle as Tiny Tim.

This favorite Christmas tale, brought to life by director David Bristow and assistant director Judie Hintzman of Monroe, tells the tale of curmudgeonly miser Ebenezer Scrooge who is visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, all in an effort to change his destiny and save his soul.

This play adaptation by Romulus Linney follows Scrooge through a series of strange and magical journeys, where he ultimately discovers the true spirit of the holiday season.

Suzanne Miller of Monroe designed a two-story set reminiscent of an 1840's London village exclusively for this production. Other members of the production team include Carolyn Terkla, producer/stage manager; Mark Miller, technical director; Sandra Nelson, costume designer; and Marlene Bergemann, stage manager.

In addition to the performances of "A Christmas Carol," MAC will hold its annual Holiday Silent Auction from Dec. 5 through Dec. 14. A Silent Auction Preview Night for the public is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4.

Hundreds of unique gift items will be on display for bidding. Some items include an autographed Green Bay Packers football, an autographed photograph and book by Bo Ryan, a traditional Irish dinner for six, a Tuscan dinner for eight, golf-outing packages, and a gift certificate to see the Milwaukee Brewers. Final auction bids will be accepted until the Dec. 14 performance of "A Christmas Carol."
