Art contest features local youth

MONROE - The Green County 4-H Performing and Visual Arts Contest was held April 8 at Juda School with 30 youth participating. The goal of the contest is to give 4-H youth in grades 5K through one year past high school an opportunity to express their creativity while developing artistic skills in a supportive and encouraging environment.

The judge for the music division, which included instrumental, vocal and dance performances, was Kim Becker of Monticello Schools and the judge for the artwork, photography and drama divisions was Francette Hamilton.

Green County 4-H youth who participated in this year's contest were: Chance Ace, Roxane Ace, Addyson Brauer, Jaydon Brauer, Maylee Brauer, Royce Brauer, Shannon Day and Justin Moore from New Horizons; Annelise Bethke, Madeline DeMuth, Anna Polnow, Kelli Polnow, Sonia Tomasiewicz, Clayton Waski and Morgan Waski, Cheese Country Clovers; Leilah King, Next Generation; Alice Elliott, Jolly Mixers; Emily Goers, Tess Lange, Levi Leitner, Megan Leitner, Jenna Sherman and Sierra Sherman from Washington Center; Heath Huschitt, Clarno; Violet Lewis, Browntown Busy Beavers; Michelangelo O'Brien and Michael Schieldt, New Glarus; and Gwen Thelen, Julia Thelen and Luke Thelen, Dayton Dairylanders.

Members of the Cheese Country Clovers 4-H club and Washington Center 4-H club performed dramatic skits as well.
