Lafayette Dems to meet in new office

DARLINGTON - The spacious new office of the Lafayette County Democratic Party will be the site of the group's meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7.

The office is in the former Amcore Bank building, next to Craig Hardware, in the Piggly Wiggly Plaza, Darlington. Anyone interested is invited to attend the meeting. Membership is not required.

The office is open 3 to 8:30 p.m. on Fridays and 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, with coffee and doughnuts available on Saturday mornings. Office hours will soon be extended.

Check the office door for current hours.

Watch for the colorful Democratic Party wagon in the Benton and Gratiot parades on Labor Day.

Albany

UMC to host hymn sing Wednesday

ALBANY - Evansville Peace church (located on County C in Brooklyn) recently merged with Albany United Methodist Church.

To celebrate this merger, Albany United Methodist Church is hosting a hymn sing 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 25.

The community is invited to join in the hymn sing, which will feature accompanist Jeffrey Ingebritsen from the Madison area and soloist Rosy Bauman from Albany. Following the singing, there will be pie and ice cream in fellowship hall.

Juda

Team to host car wash, bake sale

JUDA - The Juda volleyball team is holding a car wash, brat bash and bake sale from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27, at the Juda Bus Garage on County S.

Cost is $5 per wash. Brat bash charges are $2.50 for a brat; $1 hot dog; $1.50 soda; and 50 cents chips.

Proceeds will benefit the Juda Volleyball team.
