MONROE - Fall Conservation Day is set for area youth from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday at Honey Creek Park. Green County fifth-graders from Monroe's Parkside School, Monticello and two homeschooling networks will be attending the event to be educated in a variety of conservation topics.

Students will start at 10 different stations and rotate through them until all stations have been experienced. The topics that will be covered by resource professionals include soil conservation, a soil pit, tree identification and management, macroinvertebrates, fish management, a sawmill demonstration, prairies, birds of Wisconsin, fishing and casting, and groundwater awareness.

The variety of topics presented is made possible with cooperation through local business operators, nonprofit groups and state and local agencies, including Postville Blacksmith (Bob Bergman), Prairie Enthusiasts, Green- Rock Audubon Society, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Natural Resources Conservation Service, UW-Extension and the Green County Land and Water Conservation Department. The presenters will have lunch provided by Green County Ag Chest.
