MONROE - Anyone interested in learning more about this year's Green County Alzheimer's Walk to benefit Alzheimer's and dementia can attend a free Alzheimer's kick-off Event from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 at the Monroe Country Club, in preparation for the walk to be held Saturday, Sept. 7 at Behring Senior Center, Monroe.
Attendees of the kick-off event are free to network and socialize prior to the presentation at 6 p.m. Information packets and tips on fundraising will be shared, along with words of inspiration from past participants.
Alzheimer's walks are the primary fundraising event for the Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin. This year's walk is one of seven taking place this fall to support ADAW. All proceeds from the walk are used locally to benefit those affected by Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Almost all of the programs and services provided by ADAW are without charge to individuals and families.
No minimum donation is required to participate in the walk, but individuals who donate $50 or more receive an official Alzheimer's Walk 2013 T-shirt.
Those interested in registering for the walk may do so by signing up at the kick-off event or by contacting ADAW at 608-232-3400 or 888-308-6251, as well as by visiting www.alzwisc.org.
