Who should foot the bill?

Thursday evening while watching a nationwide newscast, a trailer came across the bottom of the screen showing that there was $7.5 million dollars of damage done to our state Capitol building. Since then, that estimate for damages to our state Capitol building has been reduced. It makes no different what the final repair cost will be. The question is who should be responsible for the cost of these repairs?

Should it be the Wisconsin taxpayers or the labor unions?

The answer is simple, the labor unions. This damage was a direct result of the protesting going on at our state Capitol building. Labor leaders organized, planned, directed and even participated in the protests, which resulted in damage to our Capitol building.

They complained when asked to leave the state Capitol building. The protesters and the labor leaders stated that it was a violation of their civil rights.

Well, that is not totally right. They have a right to have an orderly protest during the time that the Capitol building is open to the public. However, they do not have a right to have a slumber party and to deface the walls of our Capitol building.

In addition, they also should be billed for all the additional cost to the City of Madison and the State of Wisconsin these rallies created.

One always has a right to voice their opinions, on any issue. However, one is also responsible for their actions.
