To the editor:
Having served the State of Wisconsin in the legislative and executive branch for over a decade, I've worked on challenging public policy issues with many different types of people. Through this, I've found that progress can be made, regardless of the issue or political beliefs, if everyone involved has done their homework, is willing to listen to all sides, and uses factual data to drive their decision making. One of the best problem-solvers in state government today is Rep. Howard Marklein.
Howard is a true public servant. He doesn't need the job and could care less about titles. He is a tireless worker who spends time attending every possible community event and knocking on thousands of doors listening to people to make certain he has a firm grasp of the issues at hand. Then, after having the full picture, he makes principled, sound decisions based on the facts. Whether it's creating high-paying jobs, balancing budgets, strengthening education or lowering health care costs you can rest assured that Howard is leading on issues that matter to you.
A good example is the assistance Howard provided to local cheesemakers that will result in more high-paying jobs for the area. This past spring, Howard was contacted by Ron Buholzer who indicated that cheesemakers in the area needed assistance with the Department of Natural Resources' permitting process. After clearly understanding what needed to be done, Howard brought several cheesemakers together with DNR representatives and expeditiously helped resolve all outstanding issues. The result of Howard, the cheesemakers and the DNR working together is a $15M local cheese plant expansion and additional high-paying jobs for the area.
Howard knows the value of hard work. He grew up on a dairy farm in rural Spring Green and spent his entire career in the private sector. As a CPA for over 30 years, he helped small businesses and not-for-profit agencies be successful. Howard is also a Certified Fraud Examiner and serves on the UW Hospital Clinics and Authority Board. Howard has the background and values we need and simply knows how to get things done.
Our families and businesses need to keep Howard Marklein in office. With continued hard work and focus on issues that matter, Howard will continue leading Wisconsin to the brighter days we know are ahead. I respectfully ask you to vote for Howard Marklein on Nov. 6.
