Unnecessary processes, costs for senior care
Placeholder Image
Are you nursing home bound? At some time we all may be. How we get there and the events that will transpire need to be revamped. Many will be transported back and forth for evaluation and treatment. The cost of nursing home and medical care could take your life savings and home. Some issues need to be addressed to reduce unnecessary costs.

Don't send patients home until they are done with their tests. Readmitting them after two days because of insurance can be more expensive and there's extra paperwork, to say nothing about how difficult it is for most nursing home patients to return who have difficulty dressing, seeing, hearing and walking or using a wheelchair. Why not use the money saved to treat Joe 69 with a broken hip get the therapy he can't otherwise afford?

We seniors need not to be caught up in the bureaucracy of government insurance and billings. Make the bills so they can be understood. There are so many details when being admitted, one almost feels they should have their identification tattooed on their forehead you are asked so much. By not being admitted so often, many costs could be cut.

Dying paralyzed seniors (anyone) should be able to die where they choose - if they pay for it.

Here's a case that happens often. A person can't get the meds they need, so they are given another medication that can cause mental problems. That's where the transports start - from nursing home to hospital - from hospital to Madison - from Madison to Monroe to appear in court to get court-ordered medicine. Then back to Madison, then to Monroe. The poor souls are exhausted and it is so unnecessary.

Every time these patients are moved, they are re-evaluated. These poor seniors shouldn't have through this to get the care they need. They need to have some happiness. We have a fine group of medical servers, doctors, caregivers, social services, nurses, professional personal in offices, hospitals and nursing homes, and they shouldn't have to be bogged down with these unnecessary procedures. Let them do the great job they were trained to do in our care.

We need to speak out, consult you congressmen, Medicare, and your professional personal insurance health care providers.
