Tradition of giving continues

With much appreciation to everyone who helped and donated to Christmas Stocking, we want to sincerely thank you all. Our community and its volunteers should be commended for continuing to make this project a huge success of giving to those in need.

More than 50 years ago, Christmas Stocking started out trying to make the holidays a little "merrier" for families in the Monroe school district. Some families might need a little extra help during this time of year, and thankfully the Christmas Stocking tradition continues today. So many individuals, businesses, organizations, students, teachers, coaches, church youth groups, and many more, take part in helping with this big undertaking. Unfortunately, we cannot list them all, but we know that Christmas Stocking happens because of their help. From shopping for toys and clothes, wrapping, decorating and packing food boxes, baking cookies, setting up and delivering, everything gets done with the community effort of those who come and help.

As we near the end of this year's Christmas Stocking, we also want to thank everyone for the monetary donations that keep this project going. The amounts both large and small add up to cover expenses for food, clothes, boots, shoes and toys. Your donation is tax deductible and is appreciated, especially now during the "holiday season," but can be sent in at anytime of the year. These tough economic times will have an effect on everyone in the community, but if we all pull together we can make a difference.

So, with heartfelt thanks to all those who helped in any way, may each and every one of you have a blessed "holiday season" and the best for the "new year"!
