Times wrong to ridicule attorney general

I was reading your paper on Aug. 24 and stepped in a puddle of liberal ooze that was dripping from your "Our View" column.

You took great pains to tell us our attorney general should be upholding this new law to allow same-sex partners particular benefits. The constitution of the State of Wisconsin is quite clear on this issue and bans gay marriage in any form. The attorney general simply is doing his job in not defending this new law. For you to say this new law is the will of the people is, at best, a stretch.

The Democrat or Republican legislators were elected with the intent to uphold the laws of the state and the will of the majority of people who voted against same-sex marriage in 2006. This was nothing more than the will of liberals disregarding the state constitution they swore to uphold, simply because they could with the votes they had.

To ridicule the attorney general for not defending a law that is clearly outside the state constitution and the will of the people of the State of Wisconsin is asking for him to do something ethically and morally wrong.

The ridicule should be aimed at the Democratic legislators and the governor for overriding the constitution in the first place.

The cost for this whole mess can and should be placed with the state legislators and Gov. Doyle, not the attorney general.
