As we approach the end of the year, we reflect upon all who have made the Youth Apprenticeship program at Monroe High School successful. Without our business partners, our students would not have the many, varied opportunities to explore different careers and different industries.
We currently have 26 businesses that have hired 40 Monroe High School students as Youth Apprentices. When you do business with these companies throughout the holiday season, please join us to thank them for their commitment to our students and our community. We have listed businesses in alphabetical order and included the career pathway they are providing.

Each one of these businesses is supporting our students with a mentor/supervisor. We are so thankful for those mentors! Mentors are teaching our students new skills, answering their questions, and providing many opportunities for students to better understand the business and the industry. They are also teaching the importance of soft skills like communication, critical thinking and problem-solving.
Promote Your Positions
Are you interested in hiring and mentoring a local high school student? Juniors and seniors can begin their Youth Apprenticeship jobs as early as June 1, 2023. The time to start recruiting the best and brightest is NOW. Send us posters and job descriptions of your available positions with your best mentors, and we’ll post them on our Job Board.
Engage Students During Work Wednesdays
During the three lunch periods (held from about 11 am until 1 pm) we encourage businesses to join students in the M-Room to talk about job and career opportunities. We’ll provide a table and chairs, you provide staff who are excited about your business and who do a good job of engaging with students. (It also helps to provide candy or some other small give-away item to entice students to visit you.) Hands-on activities are also greatly appreciated.
Plan a Booth for the Youth Apprentice Job Fair
Mark your calendar and consider participating in the Youth Apprenticeship Job Fair on Thursday, March 30 at Monroe High School. The Job Fair is a great way to educate students and teachers about potential career opportunities at your business. Students from Green County and other area schools will have the opportunity to speak with company representatives about Youth Apprenticeship positions and learn about future opportunities for careers.
