Whether you love the visual arts, the performing arts or are searching for that perfect holiday gift or experience — the Monroe Arts Center will not disappoint during the month of November! MAC’s creative spirit shines during this time of year and our staff, volunteers and donors are delighted to offer some wonderful opportunities to experience the arts locally. MAC’s doors are open to the public Tuesday- Friday (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) and Saturday (10 a.m.-2 p.m.) and we warmly invite the community into our spaces!
We are excited to welcome the Glacial Edge Artists (Sarah Aslakson, Kathleen Dangelo, Tina Duemler, Deb Meyer, Kari Morrison, Jan Norsetter, Pam Ruschman and Jonathan Wilde) to our Wellington/Muranyi Gallery with their show entitled: Near and Far: Paintings of A Critique Group opening November 15th, 2024 through January 25th, 2025. The Glacial Edge Artists are a group of eight artists from south central Wisconsin who meet together to critique each other’s works. Collectively, they offer many different styles and mediums to explore. All are invited to attend our Opening Reception on Friday, November 22nd, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. which is free to the public. Refreshments will be served and we are excited for attendees to enjoy engaging in a question and answer session with these wonderful visual artists beginning at 5:30 p.m. This exhibit offers an amazing opportunity to learn and grow and extend the knowledge of this dynamic group.
November 22nd also offers the public the opportunity to experience the opening of our 27th Annual Holiday Silent Auction at 5 p.m. This beautiful event is a Monroe holiday shopping tradition and we are so grateful to our Holiday Silent Auction committee members, our donors and our volunteers who bring this annual event to life within the Frehner Gallery space. Come explore the many holiday tables filled with unique gifts from gourmet dinners to home décor items to uniquely crafted handmade works and fine art — this wondrous event will not disappoint! Bidding opens during the Opening Reception for the Glacial Edge Artists and will continue until December 14th at 7:15 p.m. when all bidding will be called to an end. This is one of MAC’s major fundraising events and we are grateful to all who donate and participate to help strengthen MAC’s arts programming throughout the year!
We also want to draw special attention to our November production — Broadway and Beyond: An Evening with Laura Osnes, November 23rd at 7:30 p.m. Laura Osnes is a two-time Tony Award nominee and has also charmed millions in five Hallmark Channel original movies.
Entertainment Coordinator Catherine Boughton shares, “Laura’s range is incredible — wait until you hear the setlist she has planned for us! From Fiddler on the Roof to Wicked, Sound of Music to Cinderella, her powerful and crystal-clear soprano voice has graced concert halls around the world. In musical theatre she has received numerous accolades for performance on and off Broadway, including roles as the original Bonnie from Bonnie and Clyde and Sandy in Broadway’s Grease. This is a one-time opportunity and we are so grateful Laura is returning to the Midwest — where she grew up. Everyone in your family will find something to love about this show and leave inspired and refreshed for the holiday season. Look her up and you will see why we are so excited to showcase Laura Osnes in this one-time opportunity at the MAC!”
So, don’t miss out! Tickets are on sale now for Broadway and Beyond: An Evening with Laura Osnes. Youth of all ages will love this show — take advantage of our child/student rate (18 and under — $10.) For more information, visit monroeartscenter.com or call 608-325-5700.
