Green County Development Corporation (GCDC) is a small but mighty office that relies on connections. Connections that lead us to the right people and projects, and that lead people to us so we can assist where needed.

GCDC’s focus on connection helps us in our planning and programming, leading Green County in a positive direction for growth. Whether housing, childcare or business needs, connections make all the difference in being heard and getting things done.

Local connections keep us focused and grounded, extended connections bring new ideas and approaches to how we operate and do business. You will see some of the extended connections below, and the local connections in all we do.

Beyond roles as board president for both Prosperity Southwest and the Green County Family YMCA, Olivia Otte, GCDC’s Executive Director is also making connections throughout the state and beyond representing Green County in the following ways:

●  Ambassador for the Southwest Wisconsin’s Look Forward Wisconsin, a new program that encourages people to live and work in our great state.

●  Governor’s Council on Workforce Investment appointee, allowing input on important considerations for needs in rural, southwest Wisconsin.

●  Southwest Wisconsin representative at the Select USA Investment Summit, meeting national and global business and government leaders to provide insight into our area.

●  Green County was selected as one of ten counties throughout Wisconsin to participate in the REV (Rural Entrepreneurial Venture) program, aimed at helping rural communities become higher performing entrepreneurial counties.

●  Local insights were gained throughout the county with the recent Business Retention and Expansion visits. Olivia shared this in her last article with the Business Snapshot report that can be found on our website at greencountydevelopment.com/doing-business/

●  International and state level recognition for the Home Construction Cooperative with the International Economic Development Council and Wisconsin Economic Development Association.

As we move forward in the year, connections are growing with upcoming events:

●  Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy launch celebration luncheon Friday, September 20 at Blackhawk Tech’s Monroe Campus between 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Southwest Wisconsin Regional Planning Commissions will share their findings to help us build a path for a healthy and resilient future.

●  SBDC Clinic, Friday, October 11th at Blackhawk Tech’s Monroe Campus. Experts in business taxation, accounting, legal, HR, and more will be at the campus all day to help business owners and entrepreneurs succeed! Registration is required: https://centerex.

wisconsinsbdc.org/workshop.aspx?ekey=9440065

●  GCDC Fall Breakfast, Thursday, October 17th at Monroe Golf Club from 7:30-9 a.m. Local entrepreneurial legends will participate in a panel discussion about being an entrepreneur in Green County and how we can work to support small business owners. Registration Required and space is limited: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/ev/reg/2rjjpt8

As GCDC continues to grow in recognition through the above and with social and other media we see momentum building that gets us excited about what is happening in Green County. We truly believe Opportunity Lives Here!
