From Bruce Sylvester
Monoe
I would like to thank School Superintendent Larry Brown, the school board and teachers for keeping the Monroe schools open during the last few days as the state legislature contemplates new laws that would affect public employees - including me. Such a thank-you should probably not even be necessary, but unfortunately many school districts in the state did shut down.
We can be proud that Monroe was not among them. While the proposed legislative changes are controversial, it is important that our roads continue to be plowed, our children continue to be educated, and public servants continue to do our jobs even as our elected officials do what we elected them to do - debate and adopt legislation.
Again - thanks.
