To the many people who have made a gift to the United Way of Green County, thank you. Your gifts helps dozens of local organizations - the Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, Venturing crews and Explorer posts in every community in the county - working to make this a great place to live.
Next year, the Boy Scouts of America will be celebrating its first 100 years. From the beginning, service to others has been a cornerstone of the Scouting movement, and to this day, Scouts work hand in hand with many other local groups to make a difference.
In just the last few days, area scouts have spent time helping with Christmas baskets for the Monroe Women's Club, and scrubbed pans in the kitchen for the Apostolate to the Handicapped Christmas party. Throughout the year, area Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers work to keep parks and streams clean, staff the Monroe yard waste drop off site, hold an annual food drive to fill the shelves of local food pantries, help local veteran's organizations with memorial Day ceremonies, and take part in dozens of other service projects, large and small for local churches, schools and communities.
A gift to the United Way helps bring the Scouting program to the youth of Green County. If you have been on the fence about sending a check to the United way, please consider doing so; it will pay big dividends to the community throughout the year.
