National Association of Letter Carriers, Monroe

The National Association of Letter Carriers would like to thank every person who donated food on Saturday, May 14 by putting a bag of non-perishable food by their mailbox. The 19th annual food drive was a resounding success. We collected 7,982 pounds of food and $40, which tops all previous years, and goes directly to the Green County Food Pantry. It is so heart warming to know that in these times of struggles and sacrifices for many of us, we can still count on every day people to help out their fellow Americans. All of this would not have been possible without all of the great volunteers that we had. Thanks to Louis and Gloria Scherer, who transport all the food, and help sort as well. Thanks to all the others that helped sort: Kelly, Rob, Randy, Ron, Austin, and Glenda Camron, Joyce Statz, Laurie and Wayne Rose, Gloria Segner, Maynard Heins, Mary Deitz, Ryan Schutte, and Art and Letha Whipple. These people were so organized, and gave up their Saturday for a great cause. Thanks also to Nick Flannery, Brian Bahler, Jason Rupnow, Dick Boll and Ryan Schutte who ran around and collected food from the mail carriers. Thank you to Pizza Hut for donating a couple of large pizzas to feed the hungry volunteers and Ryan Schutte for donating a couple more large pizzas to help feed the hungry volunteers as well. Thank you, also, to the mail carriers that worked a little harder that day, with a smile on their faces, and a smile in their hearts, doing a great deed for our community. This was for a great cause and turned out to be a great success, and I just can't thank everyone enough that made it work.
