September has been designated as Juror Appreciation Month by the Supreme Court in the State of Wisconsin. This designation is to recognize the citizens of the State who have answered the call and performed Jury Duty. We would like to recognize the citizens of Green County who have reported for Jury Duty at both the Historic Courthouse and the Justice Center, to perform their civic responsibility to their fellow citizens, and for their commitment to our local system of justice.

Seldom when called to serve as a juror do citizens of Green County not respond, and we want each juror to know how much we appreciate their time, efforts and commitment to the justice system. The circuit courts for Green County simply could not function without our jurors. Our democratic form of our government is based upon the participation of its citizens. Trial by jury is a right protected in both the United States and the Wisconsin Constitution. Jury duty, along with voting, is one of the primary means by which citizens can participate in the work of their government. In America, jury service is a privilege of citizenship.
