The Behring Senior Center has been hosting the "Brat Bash" in one form or another for 17 years. Amazing. The event has been refined in the last five years to what it is today. When we first began, we cooked 300 brats on grills outside the back of the Senior Center and served them inside the center with donated salads and pie. Now our band of merry Volunteers sell 1,800 brats to folks who don't even have to get out of their car. We've come a long way.
Thursday, Sept. 30, was sunny but windy resulting in a demolished canopy tent. The sales went on in spite of the gusty wind. When the dust settled, we found that we had made nearly $6,000 for the Senior Center. The Brat Gods watched over us that day.
Our sincere thanks go out to all 75 volunteers who handled the day with so much positive energy. Thanks also to our terrific sponsors who supported our area seniors in their efforts.
Also a big thanks to all who took time out of their busy schedule to stop and have a tasty grilled brat with us and the many businesses that purchased a brat for their employee. It does our heart good to see the community "rally around the Senior Center." Thanks so much from all of us at the Behring Senior Center, see you all next year. In the meantime don't forget, the brat is king.
