The Bush administration was a classic demonstration of what happens when corporate executives are allowed to run government. Their explicit motivation is to make personal profits, not make jobs. They dismantled the very laws and regulations that were enacted to prevent a recurrence of the Great Depression, creating the greatest increase in national debt in our history and initiating the worst economic decline in a lifetime. Job exports and losses accelerated at a rate from which we are still trying to recover. Income was redistributed to the already wealthy as they looted pension programs and public assets through corporate takeovers, war profiteering and no-bid contracts. Middle income families were left struggling to pay mortgages and escalating health-care costs.
Russ Feingold has tried to fight for jobs for Wisconsin through programs like the E-4 initiative which focuses on the economy, employment, education and energy. He supported cutting costs for small businesses by reforming health insurance to help free resources for job creation. He fought for technological innovation which will bring jobs to Wisconsin universities and businesses. We all need to turn out and vote for Feingold's reelection to encourage economic stimulation and job growth.
