I understand the Monroe Chamber of Commerce has decided not to have the Balloon Rally this summer. I think this is a mistake.

The balloons are unique to this area and generate a lot of interest. It brings people here from many miles away. If they're in the area, they will be spending money. It's good for business owners here and around the area. The motels are full, restaurants busy, retailers benefit as well. Monroe has always treated the ballooners well, and they appreciate it. The ballooners themselves buy lots of cheese. It certainly is a boost to the pork producers and their dinner.

We need more things to bring people to Monroe, not less. Please rethink this and let the balloons fly.
