Republicans best serve our values

I am deeply troubled by the pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, tax-and-spend policies of the Democrats, and a lot of people in our community feel as I do.

Most of the policies supported by Democratic candidates tend to reflect the values of the party's liberal base. On almost all the issues that matter most to me, I identify more strongly with the platform issues of the Republicans. I am strongly pro-life, pro-family and pro-traditional marriage between one man and one woman, and I believe in fiscal restraint and limited government. I'm also concerned about the threats posed by the politically correct "hates crimes" laws sponsored by the Democrats.

Overall, I believe the Republican Party has our best long-term interests at heart - the things in life that matter most to us, "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" for all Americans, including the unborn who can't speak for themselves.

The liberal media message coming through loud and clear today is that moral choices make a difference and social policies that undermine our moral choices ought to be avoided. Voting for a party because "We've always done it that way" is not acceptable. Look at the man - what does he stand for? What are his values? It matters a great deal. Barack Obama believes it's OK to kill unborn babies, even up to the nine months gestation. He even voted against the partial-birth abortion bill. He voted against the bill that would protect the baby born alive during a botched abortion. When Rick Warren asked Obama when a baby becomes a human being, Obama replied, "that's an ethical and moral question that's above my pay grade." When asked why he believes it's OK for abortion, he said he has two daughters and if they make a mistake he wouldn't want them punished with a baby. When Rick Warren asked McCain "When does life begin?" he answered without hesitation, "at the moment of conception."

It's a privilege to vote. As you vote next Tuesday, examine the facts. Be sure to vote for the candidate who believes in the right values. Proverbs 14:34 says, "Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people."
