Conservatives insist the recall is punishment or retribution for his "union busting" actions. While many of the corporation entities put forth this view, the labor movement sees the recall as the only way to stop Gov. Walker and his Republican cronies from any further effort to destroy Wisconsin's fine progressive tradition.
If we allow these people to continue these disruptive dictator-like activities for another three years, we may never be able to recover our proud Wisconsin tradition of fairness and open government.
One year of this administration has set Wisconsin politics back 100 years. Not only has public and private labor been blindsided but education has taken a drastic cut in funding while corporations from within and outside of the state are given huge tax breaks. The reasons given for all this is to balance the budget, save taxpayers money, and create jobs.
I ask, how much taxpayers money will be saved by spending $7 million on requiring photo ID while voting? They say this expense is needed to stop voter fraud which has not been proven.
Fair elections have been a tradition in Wisconsin for over 100 years. Our government (except for the embarrassment of Joe McCarthy) and legislators have been touted as a paragon to be copied by other states. This proud tradition is being threatened and must be stopped before further erosion renders it impossible to correct. Therefore, this recall must prevail.
