Private employees will be next

Governor Walker and his circle of ideologues aren't just planning to reduce the bargaining rights of unionized public employees. Next they'll go after private employees' rights. They clearly want to reduce the standard of living for everyone in the state except for a small percentage of people at the top of the economic heap. The goal is to create a workforce of low-wage, temporary workers with no benefits and no voice in the workplace. This crowd wants a return to the robber baron era of the 19th century.

We all need to realize that a well-compensated workforce helps create a better economy for everyone. States with unionized state employees have higher incomes for all their citizens. Unionization increases worker productivity and reduces turnover. We have repeatedly seen that privatization of public services results in higher costs and lower quality.

Please contact your legislators and the governor and urge them to treat working people with the respect that they deserve and negotiate new labor contracts in good faith.
