Congratulations to the latest graduating class of Green County Leaders. The program, a cooperative effort between the Green County Development Corporation and UW-Extension and Black Hawk Technical College, has become a solid and established source of new leadership for the county and its communities. The class and its graduates make Green County a better place to live and make its future more promising.
Graduates this year included: Sarah Anderson, Erik Backhaus, Angie Meyer and Lisa Grochola of The Swiss Colony; Larry Brown of the School District of Monroe; Frank Davis and Marcey Sink of Monroe Clinic; Tammy Derrickson of Monroe Senior Center; Scott Gelbach of Alliant Energy; Jeanne Hermanson of Monroe Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Ellen Hossman of das Baumhaus and the Literacy Council of Green County; Marge Klinzing of Monroe Parks and Recreation Department; Nikki Matley of RR Donnelley; Kent McConnell of Green County Broadcasting; Judy Meier of Kittelsen Law Firm; Tonya Mulrooney of Green County Land Conservation; Christina Symons of Amcore Bank; John Waelti, a candidate for the Assembly's 80th District; Susan Wetherington of Green County Development Corporation; Lisa Bell-Righter of Small World Childcare Center; Nic Owen of Village of New Glarus; Shelly Kuhl of Bank of Brodhead; Sherri Salzwedel of Woodbridge Corporation; and Ron Tuttle of Metavante Corporation.
With the 2007-08 class' graduation came the departure of a important cog in the program and community. Sarah Burgert, the community resource development educator for UW-Extension Green County, is moving to Arizona and will be missed. Her contributions to numerous community efforts are a working example of what community leadership is about.
