Numbers don't add up under Walker

To the editor:

Tommy Thompson was on Joy Cardin's radio show on Wisconsin Public Radio and spoke how he is co-chair of the Midwest Council Advocacy Group with Ben Nelson, former Governor and Senator from Nebraska.

He told us how other parts of the country, such as the southern and western, work together to get their fair share of resources from the federal government and we fall to 45 to 50th on resources we receive. We're always getting short changed and we don't get our share of Medicare, Medicaid, and never get our share of highway aids.

We are part of the Big 10 with great universities and named some such as Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois and Ohio. We have the Great Lakes, a great recreation area, and we should work together to stop invasive species such the Asian Carp. We're pretty darn good here in the Midwest and need to be treated more fairly.

We have huge potential for wind energy and can't overlook many sources for alternative energy.

So how does a governor like Scott Walker fit into this? He divides the citizens of Wisconsin, tries to divide the Midwest, tries to move their other states companies to Wisconsin, and has returned $800,000,000 of help from the federal government for High Speed Rail, $23,000,000 for broadband expansion, $37,600,000 for healthcare exchanges, leaving tens of thousands of our citizens without health insurance.

I wish Tommy, who was a promoter of high speed rail and former chairman of Amtrak, good luck but with Scott Walker, it looks like just we'll keep on trailing states like Minnesota. Is this why Scott Walker doesn't talk about the numbers, 37th in job creation, 45th job growth prospects, and 48th in new business startups?
