MTG's 'Fiddler' an incredible performance

My husband and I attended our first presentation of the Monroe Theater Guild last Saturday night. We wanted to see "Fiddler on the Roof" because our roofer, Jim Hurlbert, was the lead. Little did we know what was in store for us.

It was absolutely wonderful!

Jim was an incredible Tevye. He made the role sparkle and come to life with strength and humor. Tracy Bristow played his wife, Golde. Her performance was spectacular. Their voices were incredible on individual songs and combined beautifully in a lovely duet. Gloria Hendrickson played Motel the matchmaker with strength and fun. I wish I could name everyone because it was a thoroughly strong performance for the whole cast.

I especially want to mention the directors Susan Nanning-Sorenson and David Bristow. The staging and choreography were exquisite. My favorite scene was the "dream scene," with "smoke" filling the stage as the actors danced and sang around tombstones.

I would like to encourage the community to go see "Fiddler on the Roof." It is really fun to see such good theater in Monroe.
