During a five-week holiday in Monroe (Sept. 9-Oct. 13), I had a the great privilege of attending your wonderful Cheese Days celebration. I not only enjoyed the full flavor of Swiss-American life, but I sampled too the outstanding warmth of your hospitality. Total strangers made me most welcome, in spite of my English accent! I shall always treasure my encounter with a real American police officer, Lt. Mark Rohloff. He was not just helpful to a visitor but he offered advice too on where to go and what to see. I have kept his card and show it to family and friends in my small town, Totnes, in Devon. It was such as an excellent advert for the state of Wisconsin. I felt both secure and happy in Monroe and hope to visit again some day.
