Modern Whigs want to be new party for people

We live in interesting times. We have a recession and massive budget deficits. We have new technology giving us opportunities as well as problems. Much of our money goes to buy fuel from countries that don't share our ideals. And soon we may find that nuclear weapons have become much more common.

Yet we hardly expect our leaders to improve things. We've grown cynical about both of our major parties, just hoping that they won't make things worse. The ranks of the "Independents" have been growing for years. Most Americans are forced to vote for a party despite disagreeing with parts of its platform. We need a party that combines the best aspects of each of them.

Enter a new party: the Modern Whig Party. Founded by Afghanistan and Iraq veterans, the Modern Whigs are attracting people from all walks of life by selecting between traditional Democratic and Republican ideals. The MWP espouses a philosophy of fiscal responsibility and social freedom. Their mainstream centrist positions are quickly attracting support.

Now that Americans have discovered ways to organize using the Internet, perhaps we could finally have our wish for a viable new party. The MWP has been organizing in other states and has been winning elections. Now it's Wisconsin's turn.

The Wisconsin chapter of the MWP is looking for people all over Wisconsin to join this exciting movement. E-mail us at wisconsin@modernwhig.org , or visit our new Web site via the address http://tiny.cc/wisconsinmwp. The national party site is http://www.modernwhig.org.
