I was excited to read the news that the Monroe Arts Center and Monroe Theatre Guild are partnering to create a radio presentation of Charles Dicken's "A Christmas Carol." However, I knew I had to write a letter to the editor when I saw that Richard Hilger is adapting and directing this radio play.

I was a wardrobe dresser the season that Richard played the role of Ebeneezer Scrooge in "A Christmas Carol" for the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. Not only is Richard a talented actor and a great guy but he also was incredibly patient when my friends and relatives came to see "A Christmas Carol" and wanted to meet Scrooge during their backstage tours.

That 1981-82 production of "A Christmas Carol" was filmed for presentation on the A&E channel. What an exhausting and exciting weekend that was for all of us involved with the production. You can still find VHS copies of the resulting film for sale on the Internet - take a look, it was a great production.

Welcome to Green County, Richard and have a marvelous time. I'm looking forward to listening to "A Christmas Carol" on Big Radio this December.
