From Marilyn Jegerlehner, Monroe
I am responding to Ms. Kegl's letter, published June 28, 2011.
1. Democrats were in the majority beginning in January 2007, during the Bush administration. Democrats set the tone for everything that was accomplished and/or not accomplished from January 2007 until January 2009.
2. President Obama has added $4 trillion to the national debt, which is unprecedented. Unemployment has reach 9.2%. The U.S. international standing hasn't improved under Obama, even though he attempted to minimize America and the good America has done around the world. There are American soldiers buried in Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Great Britain, Philippines, and Tunisia.
3. Liberals continually bring up the fact that the Koch Brothers, and now the DeVos family, contribute to the campaigns of Wisconsin Republicans. Never mentioned are the unions, Kelly Steele (a mercenary political carpetbagger expert at spitball demagoguery, deception and defamation who proudly wears the union label), and George Soros (research how he made his billions) who is pouring money into Democrat recall elections through the Open Society Institute.
4. Schools and municipalities that prepared for Governor Walker's budget and collective bargaining bill will do well. Schools are reporting that they will have smaller class sizes, no layoffs, and instead of a deficit, will experience a surplus. School systems such as Milwaukee who rushed union contracts will not have the same experience. Perhaps they will have learned so they can follow the lead set by the Kaukauna school system. Municipalities across the state are realizing the savings they can achieve through reasonable concessions from state employees. Sheboygan's Mayor said they fix an "unfair playing field" and are able to absorb reduction in state aid.
Under Walker's budget, there will be NO new taxes or fees, no tax increases, property tax is frozen, SeniorCare is fully funded, Veterans' tuition remission will be restored to its original intent and the Veteran Trust Fund will be fully funded, Medical Assistance, BadgerCare Plus, Family Care and SeniorCare will receive an increase in funding. Giving tax breaks to corporations and manufacturers will bring jobs into Wisconsin. This is common sense. Taxes on U.S. Corporations is the highest in the world which explains their exodus to other countries. Governor Walker should be commended instead of condemned.
Scare tactics from the left are wearing thin.
