To the Editor:
Since 1848, Wisconsin voters have elected Circuit Court judges. It is an important responsibility for voters, since this is a position that impacts the citizens of each county. As a practicing attorney for almost 50 years, I know that Circuit Court judges hear a large volume and variety of cases, including criminal cases such as homicide and sexual assault. The decisions a Circuit Court judge makes have a significant impact on individuals, families, businesses, and our community. The candidates for Green County Circuit Court Judge on our April ballot bring very different legal backgrounds to the race. In my judgment, Jane Bucher is the candidate with the requisite courtroom experience and legal background to take on this role now. Jane is in our local courtrooms every single day, handling the exact type of cases the elected judge will hear. Jane has handled an enormous number of criminal cases here in Wisconsin, distinguishing her from her opponent. Jane Bucher knows her way around a Wisconsin courtroom. She has offered specific ideas, based on her extensive experience, on how to build on what is working and where to make improvements. I have known and worked with Jane Bucher. She is a woman of deep intelligence and integrity. Everyone in Jane’s courtroom will be treated fairly and respectfully. I respect attorneys who are willing to take the step to put their name on the ballot for judge. But, in casting my vote, I look to who is ready for the job now. Jane Bucher will hit the ground running and be an effective, unbiased judge from day one. I urge my fellow Green County residents to join me in voting for Jane Bucher on April 6th.
