To the Editor:
Our planet is still recovering from the largest pandemic in a hundred years. Covid has devastated economies worldwide, including our own. As we slowly recover, we’re dangerously close to re-electing a self-absorbed billionaire to somehow address the financial woes of the wage-earners he admits he cares nothing about. Though today he promises miraculous solutions for everything, this past January he convinced Republicans to vote down a huge bipartisan immigration bill to better secure the southern border. Please fact-check me on these points.
We’re living in dangerous times with enough friction and instability in this world that any one of its twelve thousand nuclear weapons could be unleashed based on the slightest of miscalculations. Where would the retaliation end?
We need a level-headed, agile president who can juggle very complex diplomatic challenges to skillfully turn down the heat. Our former and current presidents are clearly beyond that capacity.
More and more Americans, as well as disadvantaged people around the globe, have become victims of climate change. Denialism merely slows down the work of serious problem-solvers to tackle the issues in an economically sustainable manner. We need a leader who can trust expertise when it comes to extremely complex, nuanced challenges.
Fear-mongering and the stirring of further division will never move us toward sustainable solutions or peaceful co-existence. This most powerful country in the world needs “one of us” to get all of us on a better path for a brighter future. Kamala Harris is clearly that leader. PLEASE VOTE!
