Taylor: Public defender reacts to attacks on candidate
Letter To The Editor

From Guy Taylor

Verona

To the Editor:

I have been a Public Defender for more than 32 years. I transferred to Monroe from Janesville about 17 years ago. I love Green County although, for various reasons, I live in Dane County. I read with some shock the letter of the District Attorney regarding the judicial race in Green County wherein he disparages the credentials of the various candidates for the office.

Let me be clear: All of the candidates are well qualified.

Because I have worked alongside Jane Bucher for a number of years, I probably know her best and I can say without qualification that she possesses the integrity, intelligence, knowledge, serious mindset and experience for the job. The personal attacks engaged in by the District Attorney should be ignored and viewed for what they are: sour grapes from a withdrawn candidate. Finally, the voters should ask themselves, “Do I want a judge who is pals with the state’s prosecutor?”
