Stollenwerk: Sour grapes
Letter To The Editor

From Karen Stollenwerk

Monroe/Sylvester

To the Editor:

Toddlers throw tantrums, juveniles rebel, what do adults do? Evidently, in Sylvester Township, they break windshields. After a landslide victory April 4th, one incumbent and two new board members held their first meeting on the 18th. During the meeting, the Chair’s windshield was damaged. This act of violence is reflective of the mindset and behaviors of a small cadre of individuals who dominated and controlled town governance for the past two years. There could never be stronger evidence that change was needed. Just like the windshield, two board members and the clerk have been replaced thanks to the citizens who turned out to vote.

Serving as a town official (basically a volunteer position) requires time, commitment and dedication. In Sylvester, it takes courage. While the defeated cadre may continue their acts of violence, the new board will forge ahead for the betterment of the town. We are in good hands!
