Schutte: My support for Sylvester Town Board
Letter To The Editor

From Yvonne Schutte

Sylvester Township

To the Editor:

I am asking for your support for Ryan Schutte and Lori Stern for Sylvester Town Board. Ryan and I have lived in Sylvester Township for 19 years, and we have watched our roads deteriorate that whole time. Our Township has been only reactive, only doing what is absolutely necessary to squeak by. There has been no comprehensive planning, that we are aware of, and we have been to all but one Town Board meeting in the last two years. It is time for a change. It’s time for some progressive thinking, and comprehensive planning about what and how to fix our terrible roads.

Lynn Lokken is retiring this year, and it is mostly because of her hard work that we received a grant for 70% of a major road improvement, which we used on Reichsteiner Rd. last year. We need someone that is willing and able to step in to that role, to do the work to receive these grants. Lori Stern, our neighbor, worked in policy and grant writing for decades. Her knowledge is vast and incomparable when it comes to budgeting, planning, and grant writing. Ryan has years of experience in construction, including roads. He was at the Budget meeting last year, and it is only because of him that our road budget is increased for this year, with a possibility for an additional two years. He would like to be a part of the planning and implementation of this road budget. Lori and Ryan would make a great team for Sylvester Township. I hope that we can count on your support.
