Rufer: Don’t promote LGBTQ month
Letter To The Editor

From Gene Rufer

To the Editor:

It came to our attention Sunday, at our church service, that the Green County board is considering on naming June as “LGBTQ Month”. So as the board is there to help promote Green County. You think this will help promote Green county? We live in God’s Country, not in the craziness of New York, or Chicago, or the sinfulness of Hollywood. We live in the middle of the country known as Gods country. God created people MEN and WOMEN. Do you really feel that you want to be part of promoting LGBTQ’s. A person can’t get a driver’s license until age 16, tattoo until age 18, drink beer until age 21 but you think it is healthy and wise to promote a 10-year-old boy or girl to take hormone pills and have surgery to change their bodies? There are plenty of people with changed bodies that now are suffering because they mutilated their bodies. So now they have to live in those bodies for 60, 70, or 80 years, just because they thought they were confused occasionally during their first 10 years of life. Removing breasts or male gender parts can’t be replaced, and men can’t have babies!!

What anyone does with their bodies or who they sleep with is up to them, but as a County Board, I don’t think it should be promoted. This kind of activity is promoted enough by politicians and the news media that would promote anything that is against humanity and Christianity. Some doctors help promote this also because there is a lot of money to be made. Doing this will be good for one tenth of a percent of confused individuals and alienate 99.9 percent of the rest of us.

Why not name June “humanity month” or “Christian month” or “human life month”? Instead of helping confuse young impressionable children, promote the heritage of the wonderful area of Green County. Isn’t June “Dairy Month”?
