Pincus: How to avoid your worst nightmare
Letter To The Editor

From Allen Pincus

To the Editor:

Though not likely, it is possible that, if Janet Protasiewicz and Everette Mitchell split the liberal vote in the February 21 Wisconsin Supreme Court primary election, neither might make it to the general election on April 4. With only two far right wing candidates left in the race, say goodbye to any chance that critical issues coming before the Court, such a voting rights, women’s reproductive health rights, gerrymandering, and environmental protections, will get a fair, unbiased hearing.

The only sure way to avoid such a nightmare is to rally behind the liberal candidate who has the best chance of winning a seat on the Court, Janet Protasiewicz. She already has a broad base of support with endorsements from: 122 current or retired judges (Everette Mitchell has 18), 95 elected officials (Mitchell has 30), 270 lawyers (Mitchell has 23), and 5 labor unions (Mitchell has none). That information is from the candidates’ websites. Protasiewicz has built the stronger campaign organization which raised over $924,349 in 2022 (Mitchell raised $114,689 in 2022, the lowest of the four candidates). Finally, Protasiewicz’s 35 years of legal experience, including almost a decade as a Circuit Court Judge, will make her appealing to a wide range of voters (Mitchell has only 8 years of legal experience including 6 as a Circuit Court Judge).

Vote for Judge Janet in the primary and sleep well at night.
