To the editor:

Green County consistently votes in favor of Democrats. However, thanks to Republican gerrymandering, we in Monroe and to the west in the 51st Assembly District wind up with Republican Todd Novak as our Representative. Mr. Novak votes far too often with the Republican leadership in the Assembly. And they are in lock step with Donald Trump. Among other crimes against the people of Wisconsin, they have ensured that Wisconsin has had a poor response to Covid19, blocking Governor Tony Evers at every step. 

We need a strong independent voice for us, and we need new Leadership at the State Capitol. We can have that voice and that change by voting for Kriss Marion for Assembly. As a farmer, and County Board Supervisor in Lafayette County, Kriss has been a strong advocate for protecting family farms, local control, and clean water. Kriss will represent the values and preferences of the majority in this county.

At the federal level, we have heard Trump call our war dead and veterans losers and suckers. Also, we now know that he knew how deadly COVID-19 was back in February and lied to us about it, and continues to lie. There are 200,000 Americans dead and counting. Old school media, which our parents and grandparents always trusted, informs us he has lied to us over 10,000 times. Yet many still prefer to believe him, and look to radical social media sources for libelous fake stories on Democrats. A wise quote from the great movie, Gladiator, warns us, “If they lied to me, they don’t respect me.” 

Trump and the Republicans will continue to disrespect us and play us for losers and suckers until we vote them out.
