There is a battle going on in Congress that would be good to watch. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is taking on Republicans in his committee because he will not accept the findings of Robert Mueller’s probe. Adam Schiff wants transparency of the probe because he will not accept the 4-page memo written by Attorney General William Barr.
Schiff contends that William Barr is an appointee of President Donald Trump. With Trump as his boss he cow-towed to him and gave his opinion on the Mueller probe in just 2 days. Mueller, on the other hand, took 22 months. Adam Schiff said “The American people must see the full Mueller Report and not a biased summary.”
Donald Trump got into the fight calling names directed at Adam Schiff. Schiff returned this name calling with this response to the president and his defenders in Congress: “You may think it’s okay how Trump and his associates interacted with Russians during the campaign. I don’t. I think it is immoral. I think it’s unethical. I think it’s unpatriotic. And yes, I think it’s corrupt.”
It may be time to invite Robert Mueller III to sit with the House Intelligence Committee and go through his report. That way the American people will not have to wait until the AG Barr releases it, if ever. It will also give the Intelligence Committee an opportunity to ask questions respectfully. After all, Mueller is a Vietnam War hero.
For a man devoted to protocol and committed to a black and white view of the world, did Mueller believe a president can be indicted? Such a moment could have been the ultimate test of character.
What higher principles guided Mueller as he sorted through his responsibilities? And what part did his time as a Marine in Vietnam cause him to defend his commander in chief?
It is time to talk and ask questions of Robert Mueller about his report and his findings of no collusion with the Russians by Trump in spite of many contacts by the Trump campaign with the Russians. I would think Robert Mueller can explain that finding or he would not have made it.
The fact that Mueller could not exonerate the president of obstructing justice may be the stronger decision of the two. No matter what, the people deserve to have the complete Mueller Report right now.
