Letter to the Editor: We need a new president
Letter To The Editor

From Diana Vance

Monroe

To the editor:

We desperately need a president who will order Putin to take his hackers out of our elections. And unlike Trump, we need a president who is not indebted by millions of dollars to Russians. We also need a president who speaks the truth all the time and does not resort to name calling like a child would.

I like what a National Guard woman said who was training election officials; that they should look upon themselves as an army fighting a global threat. We know the Russians hacked our elections in the past but we should be totally aware that others countries might do it. This is real and serious. The Russians hacked our 2016 presidential election and look who we got as a result.

If we do not make our elections safe, think of it this way. Let’s say that ISIS has come secretly into our country and put bombs around our tunnels, railroads and bridges and in time we found out. Wouldn’t we see that as an attack on our country?

Now it is Russia threatening our democracy. This is now a national security issue. Russia did interfere in our election. And according to former F.B.I. director James Comey, “They will be back.”

We need a strong president to tell the Russians to get out of our country. And if President Donald Trump will not do that, we should try him for treason. What he did at Helsinki backing up Putin and not his own intelligence community, treason was there for all Americans to see. Trump chose the words of a foreign power over those of his U.S. Intelligence community. Trump allowed Putin to be a gambler who won big. Trump betrayed us — all of us.

Yes, he betrayed our country.

Ask yourselves, “How did the Russians pull off one of the greatest acts of political sabotage in modern history? Did Trump help?” He will not fight back. Impeach him? I think we must. He is throwing road blocks all over the government. He is trying to stop Robert Mueller from testifying. His Attorney General Barr is not the country’s. Quite a pair of liars, those two.

He is extremely stupid and made his bad behavior into norms. He is not a leader. He’s a bully and lacks empathy. And he puts babies in cages.

What a guy!
