Letter to the Editor: Thank you, heroes around us
Letter To The Editor

To the Editor:

Our country has experienced such trauma in the last several weeks that I think it is time we take stock of the positive happenings that are sometimes overlooked. We have experienced so much hate and division that it is difficult to see anything good. We all should say a big THANK YOU to the many heroes around us. Thank you to all of our medical people that risk their lives every day to care for the victims of COVID and other illnesses. THANK YOU to first responders, fire fighters, and public employees who don’t have the luxury of staying away from the public. SHAME ON those who refuse to wear a mask because they have made a political issue of it. I believe in science and the science community has told us that one of the best ways to help control this pandemic is to wear a mask to protect ourselves and others that we have contact with. It is such a small price to pay. A big THANK YOU to our military people who risk their lives each day to protect us. It is unbelievable to think that thousands of National Guard members have to protect our Nation’s Capitol from the crazy riots that ensued from misinformation and lies told to them day after day until they actually believed them. Congratulations to the people who planned a very dignified and safe inauguration and carried it out beautifully. While it may not be pleasant to hear the truth, it is so refreshing to know that what we are hearing is the truth. It is time to put the past behind us and give our support to the leaders of our country and the very impressive cabinet they are in the process of assembling. If you have not been financially impacted by this situation, I believe it is extremely important to do what you can to support the many charities, food banks, small businesses who really are suffering. It is important that we share our abundance with those less fortunate. It will not be easy but if we all work together with a positive attitude; we can get through this. And leave the Politics out of it!
