Green County Fair Board

To the editor:

The Green County Fair board would like to thank the entire community for supporting the 2018 fair. Once again Mother Nature threw us a curve ball with some rain, although not to the extreme of the past few years, thank goodness. We promise, one of these years we will have a tractor pull as scheduled. We were blessed with beautiful temperatures for the entire fair to the delight of all the animals.

Hopefully you were able to stop out and check out all the hard work that the FFA and 4-H youth put into their projects. The animals were as neatly fitted as you will ever see. The beautiful projects on display in exhibition hall were truly amazing.  We truly are so blessed to have such hardworking talented youth as the future in this county.

For those of you who are unaware the Green County Agriculture Society is a non-profit organization that is made up of approx. 400 shareholders who receive no monetary gain from the society. They are a group of individuals that want to continue the tradition of putting on an annual county fair for area youth to display their projects and have an enjoyable week during their summer.  Thank you to all the individuals and businesses that donated time, equipment, services or sponsorship at this year’s fair. Without the area’s support we would not be able to maintain the facility for various events throughout the year.

We hope you were able to visit the fair this year and enjoy some food, entertainment, activities and take advantage of all the hard work that goes into this event. If not, please put us on your schedule for next year, July 17-21, 2019. There are plenty of other community events scheduled at the fairgrounds yet this year. The Beef Producers Steak Fry is Aug.  16, Cheese City Challenge Tractor/Truck Pull Aug. 26, Green County Pickers Flea and Antique Market Sept. 8 and 9 and the Green County Fall Nationals Tractor/Truck Pull Sept. 22. We also offer very affordable winter storage for your vehicles, boats and campers if needed.

Call the office for details, 325-9159.

Thanks again for all your continued support of the Green County Fair!
