To the editor:
I spent almost 32 years serving the Citizens of Green County, working my way up through the ranks to the Office of Sheriff. My opponent has written that he questions my commitment. Does coming to work every day (or night) for almost 32 years, constantly increasing our level of responsibility and striving to improve our service prove our commitment to the citizens of Green County? I’ll let you decide.
The real question may be, why would I be willing to “un-retire” and run for office again? As I served in a part time role at the department the last several years, I was encouraged time and time again to come back. We valued our relationships and partnerships with the community, schools and other public safety agencies and worked with our outstanding employees to continually improve our level of service to Green County. We updated our equipment and technology as we could afford it, supported our employees through many serious incidents and everyday occurrences and while we recognize that we were never perfect, we always strived to be.
I believe that those values served the citizens of Green County well and we’re committed to putting our best efforts to work for the next four years. I’d be honored to have your vote on November 6th.
