To the editor:

As a write-in candidate for Green County Sheriff in November, and a person familiar with the arcane workings of the GCSD, now and under the former leadership of Jeff Skatrud, I am astonished to see Mr. Skatrud running as a Democrat. Before punching a straight ticket, please contact Mr. Skatrud and his campaign and ask for his stands on traditional Democratic issues such as abortion, gun control, marriage equality, separation of church and state. Does he condemn Pilgrim Covenant Church, which is listed as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center for its attitudes toward the LGBTQ community?

I have supported Democrats on all these issues and I condemn Pilgrim Covenant Church in no uncertain terms for its intolerant perversion of the Christian ministry. I will focus on the arrest and prosecution of abuse related crimes, and the strict application of laws regarding domestic abuse, child abuse and animal abuse, as those responsible for these crimes represent an exponentially greater threat to the police and community than criminals without a prior history of abuse.
