From Virgil Leopold
Green County Pickers Flea Market Committee
To the editor:
The Green County Pickers Flea Market just completed our seventh year the weekend of Sept. 7 and 8. We have raised over $70,000 during those seven years, which goes to support the Green County Fair. None of this would be possible without the support of a great number of people so we want to give a huge thank you to the following:
KK Lawn and Garden, Monroe, and Carter and Gruenewald, Juda, for providing UTVs for our use during the event; our food vendors which included the following for 2019: Omricon Chapter of the ADK Sorority, Ag Chest, Beef Producers, Lions Club, 4-H and German Club, National Historic Cheesemaking Center, Browntown Ladies Guild, and Freeport Kiwanis Club; The flea market vendors who come from Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa; the volunteers who handle the three gates for the event; the folks who attend the flea market; the Green County Fair Board of Directors for their support and help; Gene Wilson, fairground maintenance, and Amanda Swedlund, Green County Fair office manager.
A special thank you goes to the Monroe Police who provide extra coverage at night and have a presence during the day to make sure everything is operating without any problems. We have many comments from our flea market vendors for this presence, which they do not have from many of the other events they attend.
The Green County Pickers Flea Market has been a successful fundraiser for the fair and the support of our youth in Green County.
We are looking forward to 2020 with our dates of June 6 and 7 and Sept. 12 and 13. Hope to see you there.
